Baby and Child First Aid Course

For Parents, Families and Community Groups

Our Baby and Child First Aid courses are delivered in relaxed 2-hour sessions designed to build confidence so that parents and carers know what to do in a first aid emergency.

The course is ideal for new or expectant parents, grandparents, babysitters and carers, covering essential first aid skills for babies and children up to 6 years old.

Training is delivered in small friendly groups of up to 16 adults, and babies are very welcome to attend.

The session focuses on practical lifesaving skills and recognising serious illness, helping families feel more confident if an emergency occurs.

No previous first aid experience is required.

Topics Covered

During the session we cover a range of essential baby and child first aid skills, including:

Recognising a sick baby or child
Choking in babies and children
The unconscious baby or child and the recovery position
Basic life support and CPR for babies and children
Head injuries
Anaphylaxis and the use of an EpiPen
Febrile convulsions and seizures
Recognising meningitis and sepsis

Participants will also practise infant and child CPR and choking management using specialist training manikins.

How the Course Works

You simply arrange a group of friends, family members or other parents, choose a convenient date and time, and we will come to you.

Sessions are informal and tailored to the needs of the group while following current UK first aid guidance.

Relaxed and Baby-Friendly

This course is designed to be friendly, supportive and informal.

Babies are welcome to attend and there is no need to arrange childcare. The course is delivered in a relaxed environment where parents can learn practical skills while still caring for their child.

Where sessions are delivered at community venues, facilities such as baby changing areas and quiet spaces are available.

All training equipment

Travel included within Sussex, Surrey and Kent £0.45p per mile.
