Trainer development programme focussing on high-quality age-appropriate aviation medical emergency
The programme incorporates practical team-based medical emergency scenarios.
The programme is designed for existing trainers and builds upon their current first aid and medical knowledge, developing the additional clinical understanding, practical skills and confidence required to deliver effective aviation-focused medical emergency training.
Following the programme, trainers should have greater confidence in explaining, demonstrating and teaching age-appropriate: BLS, ILS, PILS, CPR, AED, Airway Management, Oxygen Therapy, Patient Assessment, Aviation Medical Emergencies.
A strong emphasis is placed on realistic aviation medical emergency scenarios, resuscitation, human factors, teamwork and practical skills. This helps trainers move beyond simply teaching individual skills and towards delivering realistic, integrated aviation medical emergency training. Aligned to the Uk Resuscitation Council ILS/PILS principles, Quality Standards and The UK Core Skills Training Framework.
Medical Emergencies at 35,000ft
Medical emergencies on board an aircraft present a very different challenge from those occurring on the ground.
Cabin crew may be required to assess and manage an injured or seriously ill passenger, client or fellow crew member with little or no warning. The aircraft may also be unable to land immediately, meaning that assessment, treatment, monitoring and communication may need to continue for a prolonged period.
