This will be a interactive session with demonstrations and discussions on the management and treatment and awareness of Epilepsy.
This qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide care and manage Epilepsy. Successful candidates will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of Epilepsy and management with the vital skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective treatment if required.
The course can also be used as part of your continual professional development (CPD) programme. This course is great for all health care professionals and can be adapted to meet your training needs.

Scenario-based discussion and practical learning

Building confidence in carers and family members

Types of seizures (including tonic-clonic seizures)

Common seizure triggers

Recognition and early response

Practical seizure First Aid management

Status Epilepticus management and recognition

Post-ictal care and observation

When to call 999 / emergency escalation and red flags
Discussion regarding emergency medications such as midazolam may be included at a high level if appropriate.
Duration:
The session duration would be approximately 2 hours and CPD certificates can be provided if required.
