Service Description

Award in Basic Life Support for Adults with Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator and management of anaphylaxis qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations. This course is for learners who wish to update or refresh their basic life support (BLS) skills, it also for those who have a duty of care such as health care professionals. The course can also be used as part of your continual professional development (CPD) programme. The course will not only refresh your practical skills but will also update you on any resuscitation guideline changes within the previous twelve months.  Programme: ​ Chain of survival Assessing an incident Casualty assessment Managing an unresponsive casualty Recovery Position Tracheostomy patients Pregnancy CPR AED safety considerations Using an AED Combining AED use with CPR Management of anaphylaxis Procedures for when Emergency Services arrive Duration: ​ This is a short course (3 hours) Training ratios  Minimum 1:6 people Maximum 1:12 people Qualification: ​The QA Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator and anaphylaxis qualification and certified for one year. We teach to the most current ​European Resuscitation Council guidelines, placing emphasis on both the practical and physiological areas of effective CPR.


Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations or course date transfers are not permitted. If you are unable to attend the course yourself, you may change the name of the delegate attending the course free of charge. You must inform the office to any change of delegates prior to the start of the course. If you are ill on the day of the course you must notify us in writing as soon as possible via email addressed to admin@sussesfirstaidcourses.co.uk. A transfer will only be offered if a valid doctor’s note is produced. Late arrival or missed session: If you arrive late for a course, or are absent from any session, we reserve the right to refuse to accept you for training if we feel you will gain insufficient knowledge or skill in the time remaining. In all such cases, the full course fee remains payable. To conform with Health & Safety Executive requirements for Statutory Certificates, attendance at all sessions is mandatory. In the event of non-attendance full fee is still due and is non-refundable. Cancellation by Sussex First Aid Courses: Sussex First Aid Courses reserves the right to cancel any course if there are insufficient numbers to run a viable course. In such circumstances, you will be given as much notice as possible and the offer of a free transfer to another course date, or a full refund of fees paid.
