Welcome
I'm Garry Perkins. Farther, HCPC Paramedic and Director at Sussex First Aid Courses.
We are supporting Demelza House Hospice for Children. Demelza
House Hospice for Children helped my family in our hour of need.

My dear son Ryan spent his last few days us at Demelza House and he passed peacefully with us at his bedside.

My Story

My first son Ryan had a rather dramatic delivery. The During his birth the umbilical cord be came entangled around his neck and Ryan was left with brain damage. (Cerebral Palsy)

We were blessed with Ryan for ten years. During this time Ryan needed a lot of medial care due to his very complexed needs. As a family we were introduced to Demelza House for support, respite care and the place of Ryan's passing.

Demelza House had only just opened when we were introduced to the home and we were one of the first families to use the hospice and its amazing facilities.

Demelza House gave us incredible support in our time of need and my other two sons Harry and Samual gained a lot from their support and the after care on Ryans passing.

Ryans final hours and passing at Demelza House were very special. The care team made the experience a very special time for us all. At the time of Ryans passing we were able to be all cuddled up with Ryan in a very special and peaceful environment.

This gave us all time to be still with Ryan and then on a beautiful sunny morning, Ryan passed with us all together. On Ryan's passing we were able to stay at the Hospice for the next two days and during this time Ryan was in the Hops bereavement suite.

This is a specially adapted room and we were able to visit Ryan in peace. Dressed in his favourite outfit and with his music in the background. This helped my younger sons and us greatly with the process of loosing a loved one.
The bereavement room allowed us to go in and out of the room to be with Ryan during our stay and our boys even had posters on the walls for Ryan. This all helped greatly with the difficult process of loosing a child.

This amazing work needs supporting and if you are able to support, Please do click on the below link and make a donation. It's really does help families in a time of great need.
