The QA Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults in Clinical Practice

The QA Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator and Management for Adults in clinical practice.

 

This qualification is intended for everyone who works in a clinical practice environment including administration and support staff. The Learner does not need to be a clinician.

 

Examples of clinical practice environments include: addiction services, aesthetics clinics, community health centres, dental care, mental health services, nursing and care homes, pharmacies, physiotherapy, podiatry, primary care/GP services, sexual health and sports medicine.

 

This qualification is designed to assist clinical practices in meeting the requirements of the Resuscitation Council UK Quality Standards in relation to basic life support, paediatric basic life support and anaphylaxis training

The course can also be used as part of your continual professional development (CPD) programme.

• Assessing an incident

• Casualty assessment

• Recovery Position

• Airway management - Barrier devices during rescue breaths including pocket mask or bag-valve-mask if within scope of practice.

• Oxygen therapy and safety if in scope of practice

• Pregnancy - Tracheostomy patient

• BLS/CPR - Adult 

• Post resuscitation care (ROSC)

• AED Types 

• BLS/AED - Adult 

• Choking - Adult

Qualification:

​The QA Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator and Management for Adults in clinical practice is regulated and certified for 1 year. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.

We teach to the most current ​European Resuscitation Council guidelines, placing emphasis on both the practical and physiological areas of effective CPR and patient management.
