With Benedict’s Law and new allergy safety expectations coming into force in England from September 2026, schools are being encouraged to ensure staff are confident, prepared and able to respond quickly to an allergic emergency.

About Benedict’s Law
Benedict’s Law is a set of national protections designed to improve allergy safety in schools. The measures are currently focused on schools in England, with campaigning continuing to extend stronger allergy protections across Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The measures were developed following the death of five-year-old Benedict Blythe, who died from anaphylaxis at school in 2021. His family established the Benedict Blythe Foundation and have worked with clinicians, allergy charities and policymakers to improve the way schools manage life-threatening allergies.
From September 2026, schools in England are expected to follow new statutory allergy guidance, including clear allergy policies, staff training and access to emergency medication. Government guidance confirms schools will be required to have allergy pens, training and policies in place from September 2026. (GOV.UK)
Our Benedict’s Law School Training
Our training is designed for teachers, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors, office staff, pastoral teams, support staff, sports staff and anyone who may need to respond to an allergic emergency in school.
Training can be delivered at your school or education setting and can be adapted for primary, secondary, special school and alternative provision environments.

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop the essential skills and knowledge required to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations that may occur when caring for infants and children. During this 1-day course, learners will develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to respond confidently to a range of paediatric first aid emergencies.
Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

Training includes: First Aid Fundamentals, Medical Emergencies and Minor & Environmental Injuries.
Successful learners will understand the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider and develop the knowledge and practical skills required to safely manage emergency situations involving infants and children. This regulated and nationally recognised qualification equips learners with the confidence to respond effectively to a range of paediatric first aid incidents.
This course meets the Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) first aid requirements for Nursery staff, Childminders, Early years teachers and Nannies and childcare providers.
QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
2 days on-site or 1 day online e-learning and 1 days on-site

Training includes: Day one, Paediatric emergency training. Day two, Injuries and medical conditions.
This course has been designed to allow qualified paediatric first aiders to refresh their knowledge and practise key lifesaving skills each year, helping them remain confident and competent until their full requalification training is required.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework recommends that early years providers consider whether paediatric first aiders should undertake annual refresher training.
Paediatric First Aid Annual Refresher (QAR) Certificate of Attendance

Training includes: First Aid Fundamentals, Medical Emergencies and Minor & Environmental Injuries.
The combined course is for people who have a specific responsibility at work to maintain adequate first aid provision for both employees (adults) and paediatrics in their care. This combined course allows the learner to gain both qualifications in 1 day rather than sitting each qualification individually over 2 days!
