Award in Awareness and Management of Anaphylaxis

This course has been designed for individuals who have a responsibility to recognise and manage anaphylaxis in the workplace, clinical environments, at home, or within voluntary and community settings.

Learners will gain the knowledge and practical understanding required to recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and respond effectively in an emergency.

Participants will develop the confidence to provide safe, prompt and appropriate treatment, including the use of adrenaline auto-injectors.

This course can also contribute towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

This training is suitable for anyone responsible for supporting individuals who may be at risk of severe allergic reactions, including:

  • Healthcare professionals

  • Care staff and support workers

  • School and nursery staff

  • Workplace first aiders

  • Community and voluntary organisations

  • Individuals caring for someone with severe allergies

Training can also be adapted to meet the needs of your organisation or clinical setting.

Course Programme

The course covers the key knowledge and practical skills required to recognise and manage anaphylaxis, including:

  • What is anaphylaxis

  • Common triggers of anaphylaxis

  • Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis

  • Recognition and emergency treatment

  • Incident and casualty assessment

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty

  • Recovery position

  • Administration of adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPen, Jext, Emerade)

  • Simulated demonstration of drawing up the appropriate dose of adrenaline (1:1000 IM injection where within scope of practice)

  • Safe disposal of sharps

Course Duration

Approximately 2 hours

Training can be delivered at your venue at a time convenient for your organisation.

Costings

We offer simple flat-rate pricing for on-site group training.

  • 0 - 6 learners £375

  • 7 -12 learners – £425 + VAT
